Tips for Weight Loss #1: DAILY ROUTINE

Fail to plan, plan to fail. If you don’t have a healthy, daily routine, more than likely you will fail to meet your goals to live a healthier life. The first of the 3 tips for weight loss is to start making small habit changes, one at a time. This is the first step to establishing a newer, healthier routine. If you are constantly hitting your snooze button, rushing around in the morning, and skipping a homemade meal for fast food, you need a new routine. One of my nightly habits is to set my coffee pot to brew 10 minutes before I wake up each day. My coffee is ready in the morning and it’s one less thing I have to do.


Tips for Weight Loss #2: GET MORE SLEEP

One of the number one things I hear from clients who need help with their nutrition is they don’t sleep well and don’t get enough sleep. If you are in the habit of staying up late, start getting to bed 30 minutes earlier. Each month try to go to bed 15-30 minutes earlier until you get to a bedtime where you are able to sleep for 7-8 hours a night. Don’t watch TV or surf the internet on your phone. Get your face out of the screens and read a book, stretch, or take a shower. Relax and prepare your body for the sleep it needs.


Tips for Weight Loss #3: START A NIGHTLY FAST

Be done eating by 8 pm. Don’t drink alcohol before bed, don’t eat sugar, or caffeine, eat your dinner, and be done. Your body needs a minimum of 12 hours to digest the food you ate the previous day. Our bodies are also on a circadian rhythm, our digestion naturally slows down around 8 pm when it starts to get dark. So, listen to your body's cues and stop eating. You will sleep better, I promise. Give your body the time it needs to regenerate, to slough off old dead cells and make new ones. Your brain needs time to process your day. Your body will thank you in the morning. In turn, you will be ready to wake up the first time your alarm goes off and make your breakfast or lunch for the day, instead of going to Starbucks or Mcdonald's.
